Swim England Stage 1 - Supported with Clownfish 1, 2 and 3

Beginner / Water Confidence Classes for Beginners from 4 years

​

​Our Clownfish classes are the foundation classes of our Beginners Programme and as such, the primary aim in these classes are improving water confidence, being at ease in the water and the development of basic safety awareness.   Fun games and activities make the lessons enjoyable and build each child’s confidence to attempt new skills.

Your children will be having too much fun to notice that they are building the foundations of the swimming journey as they learn floatation, rotation, movement and aquatic breathing, all these are key to your child’s success.​

 

On completion of this stage your child will be able to:-

​

1. Enter the water safely

2. Move forward for a distance of 5 metres

3. Move backwards for a distance of 5 metres 

4. Move sideways for a distance of 5 metres

5. Scoop the water and wash the face

6. Be comfortable with water showered from overhead

7. Move from a flat floating position on the back and return to standing

8. Move from a flat floating position on the front and return to standing

9. Push and glide in a flat position on the front from a wall

10. Push and glide in a flat position on the back from a wall

11. Give examples of two pool rules

12. Exit the water safely

 

A fully qualified and experienced swimming instructor and pool assistant will work with your children so parents are not required in the pool.  However parents/caregivers are required to stay on the premises where their presence, support and encouragement is an important part of the ‘learn to swim’ process.  Our viewing areas at our Hook pools, are immediately adjacent to the poolside, and therefore only a couple of feet away from your child in the pool.

 

The Little Swim Club Certificate awards are given at the end of each full term.  These are provided by The Little Swim Club to all children free of charge and are a very important part of our achievements process.
